Raised on a working farm in upstate New York, Paul Hobbs experienced first-hand the influence of terroir on the character of fruit when his father had him taste apples grown in different orchards several miles apart from one another. The diversity of flavors and textures made an impression on him, and would later influence his approach to winemaking.

Before graduating from the University of Notre Dame in 1975 with a degree in chemistry, Paul was introduced to fine wine through a wine appreciation class with his botany professor and former winemaker Father McGrath. Following graduate school at U.C. Davis, Paul was hired by esteemed winemaker Robert Mondavi. Paul would go on to become winemaker for two wineries, a consultant for several more, and finally the founder of his very own brand in 1991.

John Bargetto is part of the fourth generation of the Bargetto Family which has been involved with winemaking in the Santa Cruz Mountains since 1890. John grew up working in the winery as a young man. While in college, he decided to dedicate his life to winemaking. In 1984 he graduated from the University of California, Davis with a degree in Enology with a minor in history. Shortly thereafter, John took over the reins as winemaker at Bargetto Winery. After graduating from Notre Dame with a graduate degree, John established the family estate vineyards, Regan vineyards in the Santa Cruz Mountains in 1991. Today, as the Director of Winemaking, John works with his two siblings, Martin and Loretta in keeping the family tradition growing.

Notre Dame quarterback, wine connoisseur and seven-figure philanthropist. That's the resume of Rick Mirer, owner of Mirror Wines. After a successful collegiate career and 12 years in the NFL, Mirer is now fully devoted to his passion for wine. He launched Mirror in 2008, with a focus on wines that "mirror" the terroir from which they're grown.

In addition to producing quality wines, Mirer is also in the business of giving back. Founded in 1996, the Mirer Family Foundation regularly contributes to The United Way, Boys and Girls Clubs, Make-a-Wish Foundation and other causes that benefit children's health and education. He has also donated nearly $1 million to Notre Dame for scholarship assistance.
